Microdermabrasion is a procedure which is designed to restore a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance by treating sun damage and aging facial skin. A variety of facial flaws can be improved including fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, acne scars, crow's feet and age spots.

This minimally-invasive procedure is typically performed in the office setting. During treatment, a device is passed over the skin, emitting tiny crystals which gently abrade and remove the dead outer layer of skin. Patients can expect the procedure to last about thirty minutes to an hour, though more than one session is typically necessary.
There is little recovery or downtime following the dermabrasion procedure and patients generally experience few side effects. The skin may be somewhat red right after treatment and it may feel flushed during the first day. Most dermabrasion patients find that they are well enough to return to work right after treatment, though you will be advised to protect the treated skin from sun exposure for a period of time.
