Experience Maximum Facial Rejuvenation with Dr. Wise

The struggle to maintain a youthful facial appearance can begin as early as the mid-20s. Sun damage, loss of skin elasticity, or consistent use of particular facial muscles all contribute to fine lines and wrinkles that only become more apparent with time. Dr. Wise offers a variety of options for facial rejuvenation to prevent and correct the most common signs of facial aging.

What is Facial Rejuvenation?

Facial rejuvenation encompasses several different treatment options. Dr. Wise will work with you to find the best treatment for your specific needs. Learn more about facial rejuvenation options below.

Facial Rejuvenation with Fat Transfer

If you worry about having a sunken, hollow appearance, a fat transfer can fill the areas of concern to help provide a more youthful appearance. Using the Puregraft™ fat grafting system, Dr. Wise removes fat from other areas of your body, such as your thighs, hips, or buttocks, purifies it, and strategically injects it into specific areas of your face.

This helps to diminish wrinkles and hollows while helping to bring about a youthful fullness to your cheeks, nasolabial folds, and under your eyes.

Laser Skin Resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing is one of the best options to restore the quality of the skin on the face, neck, and chest. The heat from the laser targets the damaged layers of the skin in these areas to correct dull, leathery, blotchy, and wrinkled skin.

Dr. Wise uses either Fractionated CO2 or the Erbium-YAG Laser Peel to improve skin quality and texture without extensive downtime. Fractionated CO2 targets deep, damaged layers of skin and improves the skin quality of the face, neck, and chest. It dramatically improves the appearance of scars from surgery, trauma, or acne. Meanwhile, the Erbium-YAG Laser Peel targets superficial, damaged layers of skin to improve skin quality of the face, neck, and chest.

Facial Rejuvenation with Fillers and Injectables (“Liquid Facelift”)

BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport®, and XEOMIN® limit muscle movement to reduce wrinkles, while injectable fillers fill in areas to help provide a more youthful appearance. Best of all, there is generally no downtime associated with fillers and injectables, and most patients usually return to their regular activities immediately after treatment.

BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport®, and XEOMIN® can improve facial wrinkles, especially in the forehead area and between the eyebrows. BOTOX® has also been FDA-approved to reduce wrinkles around the eyes (crow’s feet). Restylane®, JUVÉDERM®, Voluma®, Perlane®, RADIESSE®, BELOTERO BALANCE®, and Sculptra® Aesthetic are the main fillers Dr. Wise uses.

Facial Rejuvenation with Ulthera®

Ulthera uses ultrasound technology to tighten the skin and reduce wrinkles in the eyebrow area, lower face, beneath the chin, neck, and chest. This FDA-approved, non-surgical procedure delivers heat to the deep, structural layers of the tissues, which stimulates the natural production of collagen to add volume to the skin.

This innovative treatment requires no downtime, and patients usually notice a significant improvement in their skin quality and firmness during the first few months after treatment.

What Can Facial Rejuvenation Treat?

Facial rejuvenation can treat several different areas of concern around the face, including:

  • Eyes: Dark circles, wrinkles, and hollows under the eyes can contribute to a perpetually tired appearance. By filling this area with your own fat, Dr. Wise treats facial wrinkles and hollows to help restore a youthful, alert appearance.
  • Cheeks: Due to aging or significant weight loss, youthful, plump cheeks can become deflated or sunken in, adding years to a person’s appearance. Dr. Wise can restore volume to your cheeks and help provide the firmness and tone that may have been lost over time.
  • Wrinkles: Fillers and injectables are options to reduce wrinkles temporarily and can help provide an overall youthful appearance to the face. If you are at all hesitant about facelift surgery, these are excellent options to try first. Injectable fillers can help reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fill facial hollows, and add youthful fullness to virtually any area of the face.
  • Nasolabial folds: Nasolabial folds, also called “smile lines,” extend from the nose to the corners of the mouth and are one of the most common complaints. Using fat transfer to fill this area, Dr. Wise can help restore your youthful appearance.
  • Labiomental folds: Labiomental folds, also called “marionette lines,” run downwards from the corners of the mouth and can make a person look unhappy. Dr. Wise can fill these troublesome lines with your own fat to help restore a more youthful-looking appearance.
  • Nose: Injectable fillers can also serve as a temporary alternative to a nose job for some patients.
  • Lips: Either injectable fillers or lip implants can help restore youthful fullness to the lips.

The Procedures: What to Expect

Depending on which procedure you elect, you will have a different experience.

  • Fractionated CO2: Local anesthesia, nerve blocks, or sedation are employed. The time in treatment is 30 to 90 minutes.
  • Erbium-YAG Laser Peel: Local anesthesia, nerve blocks, or sedation are used. The time in treatment is 30 minutes to an hour.
  • Fat transfer: The procedure can take anywhere from 1 to 4 hours, depending on the extent of the treatment and the specific goals of the patient. It’s typically performed under local anesthesia.
  • Ulthera: No anesthesia is required; treatment time varies but is generally around 60 to 90 minutes.
  • Injectables: Quick and minimally invasive. These are often referred to as "lunchtime" procedures. No anesthesia is necessary; treatment usually takes around 15-30 minutes, depending on the areas addressed.
  • Fillers: Swift and non-surgical. These typically involve no anesthesia, and treatment is usually completed within 30 minutes.

Recovery from Facial Rejuvenation

Recovery from these treatments varies but is generally swift:

  • Fractionated CO2: Redness and swelling are common immediately post-treatment. Initial downtime typically ranges from seven to 10 days, with complete recovery within a few weeks. Patients may experience mild discomfort, managed with prescribed medications.
  • Erbium-YAG Laser Peel: There’s minimal downtime (four to seven days), as this is often referred to as a “weekend peel.” Mild redness and swelling may occur for a few days, and makeup can usually be applied after a few days to conceal any residual redness.
  • Fat transfer: Mild swelling and bruising will occur around the injection and donor sites. Recovery time varies but is generally one to two weeks. You may resume normal activities gradually, with final results visible after a few months.
  • Ulthera: There’s little to no downtime, with patients returning to regular activities immediately. Some redness or swelling may occur but typically subsides within a few hours to a day. Results continue to improve over several months.
  • Injectables: There’s minimal to no downtime, as this can be a “lunchtime” procedure. Temporary redness or swelling may occur at injection sites. Patients can resume normal activities immediately.
  • Fillers: Similarly to injectables, there’s little to no downtime, with immediate results. Mild swelling or bruising may occur but typically resolves within a few days. Makeup can be applied to conceal any temporary discoloration.
